Furor over Roe v. Wade reversal likely won't rescue Democrats in midterm elections
Susan Page, Kenneth Tran & Merdie Nzanga, USA Today
Democratic strategists who hope a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade would transform the midterms' political landscape in their favor may be in for a disappointment. In a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, even those Americans who oppose striking down the landmark decision recognizing abortion rights say by 2-1 – 59% to 29% – that the economy will be more important to their vote in November.

How does education level, media preference affect abortion knowledge?
David Paleologos (Suffolk U.), USA Today
Media sources are important filters of information that deserve further research, as the nation becomes more polarized not only in voter opinions on issues, but voter knowledge of issues.

The Major Supreme Court Decisions in 2022
Adam Liptak & Jason Kao, New York Times
According to a recent survey from researchers at Harvard, Stanford and the University of Texas, the public is closely divided on how the court should rule in several major cases. In many of them, though, respondents held starkly different views based on their partisan affiliations. Here is a look at the major cases this term.

The complicated conversation about the impact of the January 6 hearings
Jon Allsop, Columbia Journalism Review
Before the hearings had even begun, whether the public would listen was a prominent concern among media types, with various commentators expressing differing degrees of optimism that the committee would succeed in cutting through our noisy, divided media ecosystem—and, if so, that its findings might focus minds and foster consensus. Since the hearings began, media watchers have returned often to those questions, parsing a range of metrics that might help in answering them. So far, they point to a public response that defies easy characterization.

Expectations about prosecuting Trump may be shifting
Jennifer Rubin, Washington Post
Many Republicans and mainstream media commentators have intoned that the House Jan. 6 committee’s hearings wouldn’t draw ratings or change voters’ minds. That was wrong. In fact, the evidence presented thus far has been far more impactful than the punditocracy predicted.

Finally, the team looks at the newest polling from FiveThirtyEight’s collaboration with Ipsos, in which Americans are asked about the most important political issues leading up to the midterms.
