Plurality of the public supports Trump indictment

A plurality of Americans think former President Trump should have been charged by a Manhattan grand jury with a history-making indictment, yet a near equal amount believe that the charges against him are politically motivated, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll.
Half of Americans say Trump charges are serious

In the wake of former President Trump’s indictment on charges related to a payment of hush money to an adult film actress, half of Americans view the charges as serious, and nearly as many feel that Trump should be charged with a crime, a new ABC News/Ipsos poll shows. Around half also feel that Trump should be charged for a crime for his actions related to the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and for his efforts to change the 2020 election results.
