Americans Still Value Immigration, but Have Concerns

Americans remain largely supportive of U.S. immigration, with the majority saying it is good for the country and preferring to see immigration kept at its present level or increased rather than decreased. At the same time, they harbor concerns about the effect immigrants have on the country in some areas, especially on the crime and drug problems and, to a lesser extent, taxes.

Trump Remains Popular Among Republican Groups, While Assessments of DeSantis Slip

New PRRI data from June 2023 finds that former President Trump maintains his majority approval ratings among Republican base groups. Trump currently faces his strongest competition in Florida Gov. DeSantis, but DeSantis’s ratings among key Republican groups have declined compared to March of this year. Around 4 in 10 Americans (43%) hold favorable views of President Biden.
