Where voters stand on more funding for Ukraine and Israel

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visits Washington to ask lawmakers for more money to fight Russia, 36 percent of Americans say that the United States should not authorize more funds for war in either Ukraine or Israel, according to the latest PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. If registered voters were casting ballots for the 2024 presidential race today, 49 percent said they would support Biden, another 48 percent said they backed Trump.

Republicans on the campaign trail are pushing several ideas. Some are in step with the majority of Americans while others are not, the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds. The survey tested policy prescriptions on some of the most hot-button political issues facing the country, from abortion rights and gender identity to immigration, foreign aid, trade and what to do about the national debt.

A looming election rematch next year between President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump would be closely fought, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found, with both candidates saddled with profound vulnerabilities that could cost them the White House.

Trump leads Biden by 2 percentage points (43% to 41%) in our latest national tracking survey, compared with a tie in last week’s update. Biden is trailing Trump because fewer voters from his winning 2020 coalition are coalescing behind his re-election bid: 81% of Biden 2020 voters said they’d vote for him if next year’s election were today, compared with 88% of Trump 2020 voters who said they’d vote for Trump again.
AAPI community is pessimistic about the state of politics, but their outlook is comparatively less dour than the general public’s view.

Most within the AAPI community lack trust in government institutions and have little hope for the Republican and Democratic Parties’ futures. Just 1 in 10 AAPI adults believe democracy is functioning well, though another 47% say it is functioning somewhat well.
