Data released on Wednesday by national pollster Angus Reid found that 91% of Canadians want their country to rely less on the US in the future, preferring that option over repairing the US-Canada relationship, though more than half still wanted to try. The opinion survey also noted a big jump in national pride, and found that 90% of Canadians were following this issue closely, mimicking engagement levels not seen since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nearly six in ten Americans think the Kansas City Chiefs will win the Super Bowl on Sunday. However, almost the same proportion say they want the Philadelphia Eagles to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Regardless of who wins, a plurality of Americans think the referees will play a major role in determining the outcome of the game. While about one in three residents nationally say they plan to place a bet on the Super Bowl, many Americans, in general, support the use of online or app-based gambling.

About half (48%) of Americans say they definitely (25%) or probably (23%) will watch Super Bowl LIX, to be played Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, a new Economist / YouGov Poll shows. But as the Chiefs go for their third consecutive Super Bowl win, fewer Americans are rooting for them than did the past two years.
