Openly Transgender Troops Backed by Reduced Majority in U.S.

A majority of Americans, 58%, continue to favor allowing openly transgender men and women to serve in the U.S. military, but support has declined from 71% in 2019 and 66% in 2021. On the other hand, roughly the same share of Americans as in 2007 favor allowing women to serve in combat roles, with majorities of all party groups still supportive.
What Americans think about free speech and its consequences

A new survey finds that majorities of Americans agree with certain principles related to free speech, including that free speech involves dealing with people who disagree with you (88% agree), that society should discourage people from expressing views that advocate violence (81%), that freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences of that speech (78%), and that it isn’t always a bad thing when people avoid publicly expressing views that may offend others (70%).
Large Bipartisan Majorities Oppose Deep Cuts to Foreign Aid

An overwhelming majority of 89% of Americans say the US should spend at least one percent of the federal budget on foreign aid – the current amount the US spends on aid. This includes 84% of Republicans and 94% of Democrats. Fifty-eight percent oppose abolishing the US Agency for International Development and folding its functions into the State Department, including 77% of Democrats and 62% of independents. But 60% of Republicans favor the move. These are some of the findings of a new survey by the Program for Public Consultation at the University of Maryland, fielded February 6-7, 2025 with a representative sample of 1,160 adults nationwide.
