CNN poll: Americans are negative on Trump’s handling of economy

Americans are not impressed with President Donald Trump’s stewardship of the economy, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, putting him underwater on the nation’s top issue even as he sees ratings among the best of his presidential career on other key priorities. As markets slide and investors worry in response to Trump’s trade policies, a 56% majority of the public disapproves of his handling of the economy, worse than at any point during his first term in office.

As Congress faces a March 14 deadline to avoid a partial federal government shut-down, a new AAPI Data/AP-NORC Poll finds that most Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) adults think the federal government should prioritize addressing the costs of health care (79%), food (67%), and housing (61%). Many believe the government is spending too little on a variety of policy areas, with education (64%) and healthcare (59%) topping the list.

Most Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders do not agree with the strategy of putting entire federal agencies on the chopping block, nor are they broadly on board with mass layoffs of federal workers, according to a new poll.

That title falls to billionaire turned federal government ax-man Elon Musk.

South Carolina: Winthrop Poll

Just over a month into Donald Trump’s second presidency, 45% of South Carolinians approve of the way the president is handling his job, while 40% disapprove. Nancy Mace is the most well-known of the potential 2026 gubernatorial candidates, with 52% of South Carolinians being either very or somewhat familiar with her. Alan Wilson is the next most well-known, with 39% saying they are either very or somewhat familiar with him.

New Jersey: Voters Divided Over Energy Production

According to the latest results from the FDU Poll, in cooperation with the Fuel Merchants Association of New Jersey, voters are about evenly split between preferring more natural gas plants and more nuclear energy, with other options like importing electricity from other states proving less popular.

Weeks after fires ravaged the region, many Angelenos were dissatisfied with Mayor Karen Bass’ leadership, a new poll has found. A little over 40% of registered voters in the city said they thought Bass did a poor or very poor job in responding to the fires, while just 19% characterized her response as excellent or good, according to a new survey from the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies, co-sponsored by The Times.
