Consumer sentiment was essentially unchanged this month, inching down a scant 1.4 index points following four consecutive months of steep declines. Sentiment is now down almost 30% since January 2025. While many Americans know how measles can spread, most cannot accurately estimate the prevalence of complications associated with measles such as hospitalization or the risks it presents during pregnancy, according to the latest Annenberg Science and Public Health survey. Two-thirds of U.S. adults (67%) know that it’s false to say that vaccines given to children like the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) cause autism – but that declined significantly from 74% in 2021.
Americans overwhelmingly say the benefits of the MMR vaccine for children outweigh the risks (83% to 17%).

The founder of the Populace think tank has been trying to find out just how much Americans conceal what they really think; his latest polling research found 63% admitting that they withhold their “true beliefs.” Conducted with YouGov, with a sample of around 3,000 people, the results found more doubt, unhappiness, and mistrust than respondents wanted to admit.
