Jones, Gallup Continuing the pattern seen in the years after the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationally in 2015, LGBTQ+ Americans in cohabiting same-sex relationships remain more likely to be married than living with a domestic partner. However, the 55% now in same-sex marriages is down slightly from the high of 61% between June 2016 and June 2017, the second full year after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in its June 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision.
Voters Reject the Trump Administration’s Plan to Eliminate 988’s Specialized Services for LGBTQ+ Youth Data for Progress A new poll from Data for Progress asked voters whether the U.S. government should eliminate the 988 Lifeline’s specialized crisis services for LGBTQ+ youth. A strong majority of voters (69%), including 56% of Republicans, 70% of Independents, and 80% of Democrats, say that the U.S. government should keep these services in place, while less than 1 in 4 voters (23%) say the government should eliminate them. American Military Veterans Strongly Oppose Trump’s Birthday Military Parade and the Firing of VA Workers Data for Progress A new survey, conducted by Data for Progress and Common Defense, examined adult American military veterans’ opinions on various issues and their perceptions of the Trump administration’s actions. The survey is representative of adult veterans (those who have served on active duty in the past, other than for training) by age, gender, education, race, branch of service, voter registration, and recalled presidential vote.
