More Americans Oppose than Support US Strikes against Iran Dina Smeltz, Craig Kafura and Lama El Baz, Chicago Council on Global Affairs A June 20–23 joint survey conducted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Ipsos indicates that Americans are more likely to oppose than support US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, but a significant percentage are unsure. If Iran were to escalate the situation against US forces in the region, a narrow majority of Americans support carrying out airstrikes in response, but there is little interest in using US troops to overthrow the Iranian government.
