Neither Party Dominates in Favorability or Trust

When Americans are pressed to choose which party is better equipped to handle the nation’s key issues of prosperity and security, Gallup finds the tide has shifted away from the GOP after helping fuel Trump’s reelection. Yet, while Republicans have lost ground this year on the key issues of maintaining prosperity and national security, Democrats have seen no corresponding gains. Relatedly, Americans remain broadly dissatisfied with both major parties, with neither viewed favorably by even half of the public.

Trump’s approval ratings improve

With the federal government shut down since Oct. 1, Trump’s net approval rating has returned to its highest point since late August, with 46% approving of his job performance and 51% disapproving. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) saw his net favorability rating decline by 6 percentage points since the previous week, bringing it down to 10 points underwater — the lowest we’ve measured since late August.

Kamala Harris still Democratic favorite for 2028

The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll, conducted by Noble Predictive Insights, surveyed 2,565 registered voters from Oct. 2-6, 2025, via opt-in online panel and text-to-web cell phone messages.
