U.S. stands out among 28 countries in perceptions of social tension

A new Ipsos Global Advisor poll, carried out in partnership with the Policy Institute at King’s College London, shows over half of Americans (57%) think that their country is divided by “culture wars.” Just over a third of people from 28 countries across the world (a Global Country Average of 35%) agree, however, there is wide variation in this opinion when looking at individual countries. In the U.S., the biggest source of perceived tension is between political parties, followed by values, ethnicity, wealth, and immigration.
